We recently had the opportunity to work on a standout project to produce custom packaging for a collaboration between two iconic SoCal brands — Black Flys and Sublime. Both rooted deeply in Southern California style and culture, the partnership was a natural fit for Direct Edge.
Bringing the Vision to Life
The limited-edition sunglass box was printed on our Koenig & Bauer Rapida 105, a high-speed offset press built for quality and consistency on every run. To give the packaging that extra visual punch, we used metallic gold ink — creating a shimmer that pops and elevates the unboxing experience.
Diecut, Folded, and Finished In-House
From there, the job moved to our SBL Platinum 106 automatic diecutter, delivering precise, clean cuts at production speed. The boxes were then folded and glued on our SBL Platinum PG-100C, a reliable folder-gluer built for high-output retail packaging like this. Everything — from the first sheet to the last fold — was handled by our Lakeview team, ensuring full control and premium results.
We also ran a larger production run of Black Flys sunglass boxes, showcasing our ability to scale high-quality custom packaging efficiently.

This project is a perfect example of what happens when Southern California creativity meets Direct Edge craftsmanship. It’s more than packaging — it’s a cultural statement wrapped in premium print and precision finishing.
